The Holistic History group, is a small online group for 7 – 11 year olds, that meets each Tuesday Morning at 11am and is intended to introduce big ideas through stories, discussion, and curiosity-led learning. Sessions are calm, engaging, and designed to build understanding and confidence — not memorisation.
Over the winter we are looking at the earliest civilisations and the Bronze Age.

The world’s first civilisations developed beside rivers, where fresh water, fertile soil, and easy travel allowed communities to farm, trade, and grow. From this came cities, writing, laws, and shared culture — foundations of the modern world.
The Holistic History Group will be learning about early civilisations such as:
- Mesopotamia – the first cities, early writing and laws
- Ancient Egypt – the Nile, pyramids, and hieroglyphs
- Indus Valley – planned cities and early sanitation
- Ancient China – farming, invention, and the Yellow River
- Caral-Supe (Peru) – monumental buildings resistant to earthquakes
Learning about these societies helps children understand how cooperation, problem-solving, and community shaped the ancient world.
